How Does Specialty Grading Work?
Navigating the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) Standards
In the wholesale market, "Premium" is defined by the Grade 1 designation. To achieve this, a lot must undergo a dual-phase grading process that ensures consistency and quality.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Physical Grading:A 300g sample is inspected for defects. Grade 1 allows for zero primary defects (like black or sour beans).
- Sensory Cupping:For a lot to be exported as "Specialty," it must achieve an SCA cupping score of 80+. Our premium inventory exclusively targets the 85-92+ bracket, ensuring complex cup profiles.
